Madras Round Table 1’s PRO-AM Golf Tournament aims to bring together the best of golfers from India and Sri Lanka

“The idea to hold the benefit match came when Puneet Gupta, Sandeep Sayal and I were playing one day and Sandeep gave us a few tips on golf. That’s when we thought of approaching World No 41 professional golfer Anirban Lahiri , and he readily agreed,” said Bharat Jhaver of MRT1.

Within hours of landing in Chennai, Lahiri said he was charmed by the city. “Chennai is a wonderful place, there are two wonderful golf courses in the city and I look forward to the time when it will produce India’s best golfers in the years to come,” he said.

The young golfer is in the city to tee off Madras Round Table 1’s PRO-AM Golf Tournament being held to raise funds for improving infrastructure in schools for underprivileged children. Lahiri will play a mentoring role on the course during 18 hole golf tournament with them. He will be giving tips to the golfers on how to improve their game, sharpen their drives and refine their putts.
