LMVH partners with UNESCO

French luxury conglomerate LVMH has announced a partnership with Unesco’s “Man and Biosphere” (MAB) intergovernmental scientific program, which aims to preserve biodiversity around the world by supporting innovative approaches towards economic development. The program operates works closely with 686 biosphere reserves in 122 countries to ensure their preservation.

As part of the deal, LVMH’s fashion houses will benefit from Unesco’s expert advice to advance their sustainable sourcing programs. In exchange, LVMH will contribute to MAB’s research projects by making its infrastructure resources available to establish pilot sites for conservation.

The two partners are also planning on participating in several international events together over the next two years, including the Convention on Biological Diversity, set to take place in China at the end of 2020.
