Going beyond traditional carol singing at homes in the run up to Christmas, a Church in Chennai brought together choirs from seven different parishes to one altar.

The brainchild of the Parish Priest of the Church of the Visitation of Our Lady Fr. Anthony Raj, this Abhiramapuram Church Choir spearheaded by Maria O’Connor, Senior Music Teacher at Don Bosco School, Egmore, heralded the Christmas spirit in a truly novel fashion.

Eight to eighty year olds from choirs of the hosts at Abhiramapuram, St.Louis Church, Santhome Cathedral, St.Teresa’s, St.Mark’s, Besant Nagar Velankanni Shrine and Our Lady of Light at Luz, belted out the season’s favourite carols, as parishioners swayed, clapped and sang along.
The musical extravaganza did not have a competitive twist, as the focus was on talent sharing to give glory to the babe at Bethlehem.
