Life sentence awarded to Sherin’s foster father

Wesley Mathews the Indian American foster father of Sherin Mathews was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of his three year old adopted daughter Sherin. He had killed the child and dumped the body in a culvert in 2017.

A Texas court awarded the sentence in the sensational case that attracted a lot of media attention. The 12 member jury deliberated for 3 hours before coming to an unanimous decision to award life imprisonment to Wesley. He will be entitled for parole after serving 30 years imprisonment. His wife Sini was released from prison as charges were dropped against her due to insufficient evidence. The police felt that justice has been done and they thanked the law enforcement agencies as well as the civilian partners for the resources and time spent on the case.
