Kiran Mazumdar gets Australian highest civilian honour

Biocon founder Kiran Mazumdar Shaw from India has been conferred with the highest civilian honour by the Australian government for her contribution towards advancing the relationship between Australia and India. The Australian High Commissioner to India Harinder Sidhu  conferred her with the title of Honorary Member within the Order of Australia at a ceremony held in Bengaluru. Kiran is an alumnus of the Federation University, Australia and the founder of Biocon one of India’s largest bio-pharmaceutical companies.

She has contributed immensely to joint research programmes developed between Biocon and Deakin University and is also recognised for her significant contribution to industry academia collaboration between Australia and India. The ceremony was attended by representatives from both Indian and Australian business houses, diplomatic corps, family and friends of Kiran Mazumdar Shaw. The award recognized her commitment to progressing Australia-India partnership.
