Kerala slowly limping back to normal

Rain battered Kerala is slowly getting back to normal as the rain abated and water began receding from the flood affected areas. The death toll went up to 223 and more than 10 lakh people were housed in 3,274 relief camps. Road, rail and air traffic was restored partially. Steps are being taken to resume communication service and to restore the power supply.

The State government has convened an all party meeting to discuss the flood situation. The Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the rescue operations would continue till all the marooned victims were brought to safety. The Revenue Minister E.Chandrasekharan said that all the flood victims would be compensated for losses based on reports and verification by the revenue authorities.
