Karunanidhi statue unveiled

A statue of former DMK Supremo M. Karunanidhi was unveiled by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on the leader’ s first death anniversary. Painted in a rich golden yellow hue, the statue has Karunanidhi in a sitting posture holding a writing pad and a pen. It has his trademark dark glasses too.

The statue is placed in the premises of the party’s mouthpiece the ‘Murasoli.’ Stalin, the DMK President awarded the sculptor of the statue with a ring. The ambassador car which was used by  the late Kalaignar was placed on the stage at the YMCA auditorium where the memorial service was held. A large number of DMK leaders and cadres led by Party Chief M. K. Stalin took out a peace march to the memorial and planted a tree sapling adjacent to the memorial. They also paid floral tributes there.
