It was an afternoon dedicated to breaking conventions as multi-talented actor from Bangalore, Kalki Koechlin along with Venus beauty experts, celebrity make-up artist Namrata Soni and celebrity dermatologist Dr. Rashmi Shetty, came together to encourage Indian women to embrace change. Gillette Venus and Kalki Koechlin come together to demystify shaving myths and recommended shaving as the best and hassle-free method of hair removal for women. At an interactive session, all three shaving advocates enlightened the audience on benefits of shaving while busting common myths that surround the category. As part of the discussion, Kalki revealed her beauty secrets and introduced Venus’s latest innovation, ‘Breeze’, designed especially for women to meet their modern and evolved beauty needs. She also emphasised how it is a beautifully feminine addition to her beauty routine and nothing makes hair removal as painlessly smooth and sensorial than Venus Breeze. Kalki Koechlin speaks to RITZ magazine at the launch, sharing how the brands she associates with resonates with her personality as she feels most comfortable to carry it along during her travels.

Silver Screen: Talking about her upcoming movies, Kalki who was born to French parents in Pondicherry, made everyone stand up and take notice of her with her acting prowess in movies like Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, That Girl in Yellow Boots, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Margarita with a Straw, Dev.D and many others, shares, “I’m working on a movie called Scholarship, by Raman Bharadwaj with Konkona Sen and me in it. I just finished my first web series, which is about the Goan mafia called Smoke, where I play a Portuguese Goan DJ and is releasing in July by Eros. Also, I can’t talk about it in detail at this moment, but I’m doing my first Tamil film this year and am working on it, besides of course, my play Macbeth with Rajat Kapoor that we’re travelling for a lot in India and internationally.”

Travel tales: Kalki was in the news last year when she hosted a travel show on her 4,000 km biking trip to the Northeast along with her father that was aired on National Geographic and Fox Life Channel. Confessing to being a travel buff, the national award winner adds, “I’ve just come back from Paris. I had a meeting with an agent in Paris and after that I took out some time for a holiday there. I wish I could make some more holiday plans for the year, but it’s quite packed with work schedules. If I do get time, I love to go off to the wildnerness. I’ve not been to Sikkim and want to visit Sikkim soon. We missed that part during our Northeast trip last year. I also love surfing and learnt to surf in Pondicherry. I want to try and hone my surfing skills further in Malaysia.”

Style Statement: “No matter how sexy or hot one might look or want to look, one should always be easy and comfortable in what one is wearing. I don’t think one has to suffer. I love to change for different occasions. I like transforming my style, even in one day – in the morning if I’m doing yoga, I will wear my yoga outfit, then after that if I’m going for work I would wear something work appropriate and if I’m going to the airport it would be something that I would be comfortable in and would want to sink in my chair and catch some sleep. For summer, it’s easy, breezy, organic, breathable fabrics in hues of aqua. I love patterns as well, but certain patterns are too loud for me. I like simplistic patterns like polka dots. I find brands like Free People, Shift, Anokhi and some brands from Pondicherry like Upasana very cool. I’m now moving away from high street brands as I feel now I can afford to be more fashion conscious, so I trend to use brands that have some association with sustainability.”

Bangalore babe: The Bangalore girl concludes, revealing, “I spent some time with my family in Bangalore before the event. I went swimming with my little brother and spend many hours at night playing Jedi Lego with him. It’s always home time for me in Bangalore, eating dosas, drinking filter coffee and going to Ranga Shankara.”
