Justice Bobde to be new CJI

Justice Sharad Arvind  Bobde will be the new Chief Justice of India. He will be the 47th CJI and will be sworn in on November 18th after the retirement of current Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi. Justice Bobde will have a tenure of 17 months.
His warrant of appointment was signed by President Ram Nath Kovind and was handed over to him  by the Law Ministry officials. As per the established procedure, it was Justice Gogoi who recommended the name of Justice Bobde as his successor to the Law Minister..Justice Bobde is considered to be a practical judge who finds out solutions to difficult cases that would otherwise take years to solve. He was on a Constitution Bench and he pushed for mediation of the Ayodhya dispute. He will hold office till April 23rd 2021.
