International Women’s Day

Every year March 8 is  commemorated as International Women’s Day. Especially in a country like India where women had to fight for their rights, this day is no more a ritua. It helps to recognise giant strides women have been taking with each passing year. In Russia, Women’s Day is more about offering flowers and florists have three times more customers on Women’s Day than on  Valentine’s Day. When one talks about Women’s Empowerment first step towards it is education and the next step is financial independence.

One good thing about Women’s Day is that people spend time to celebrate women for their work and achievements. Usually, most of the things women do go unnoticed. Now, people are taking time to acknowledge the contribution of women to society. This is a step in the right direction.
