INTERNATIONAL JAZZ DAY in BRUSSELS

In November 2011, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) officially declared April 30 as International Jazz Day in order to highlight jazz and its diplomatic role in uniting people around the globe.

Each year, on April 30, this international art form is recognised for promoting peace, dialogue among cultures, diversity, and respect for human rights and human dignity; eradicating discrimination; promoting freedom of expression; fostering gender equality; and reinforcing the role of youth in enacting social change.

As a true cosmopolitan jazz city, Brussels grabs this unique opportunity with both hands to shine the spotlight not only on jazz but also on all artists who actively contribute to this music genre.

In the evening, various clubs and venues in our capital city will host many live jazz performances. Earlier on, in the afternoon, a jazz parade will cheer up the streets in downtown Brussels.
