Hundreds of school and college students as well as yoga enthusiasts will be displaying their prowess during the fifth International Day of Yoga at the National Institute of Siddha at the Tambaram Sanatorium.  The Governor of Tamilnadu Banwarilal Purohit will lead the celebrations at the Raj Bhavan at 7 a m. Yoga is found to be beneficial in several medical conditions like artery disease, asthma, rheumatoid arthritis, hypertension, diabetes, epilepsy, nervous disorders etc.

The practice of yoga brings enormous benefits and positive effects on the body and mind. Even the villages are not far behind. In order to create awareness of this ancient Indian art, 150 students of the Gurukulam school at Thuneri village walked up to the Parade hills, cleaned up the area and began performing yoga in the natural surroundings. They recited Sanskrit slokas and also meditated for a while.
