‘Indigene’ by jaya & ruchi showcasing @ ARTISANS (8th – 9th April 2016)

Indigene by Jaya Bhatt and Ruchi Tripathi will be exhibiting their refreshing Lakme Fashion Week collection at ARTISANS gallery on Friday, 8th & Saturday, 9th April 2016 in Mumbai.

The collection theme “TRANSIENCE” is inspired by Wabi-Sabi, a Japanese rubric of rustic simplicity and understated elegance; a quiet, free-flowing osmosis of natural objects and processes. Hand-printed ajrakhs, handspun and handwoven khadis are both its canvas and its brush. And its forms — influenced by Gurunsi architecture and the elaborately decorated walls of Burkina Faso in Africa — are geometric and linear. It is this geometry, this intricacy that adds ‘texture’ to the textiles. Symmetric yet organic, fluid yet structured, this is where form meets fabric in subtle, unfamiliar ways.

Indigene by Jaya & Ruchi is a conscious clothing label from Delhi. The label started with a passion for all things handmade. Lending a new perspective to that which is “made by hand”-and turning it into a larger, yet deeply personal, statement. Indigene clothing is simple, modest yet stylish, keeping the essence of handcraft and fine detailing together, appealing to anyone who is experimental, creative and not bound by social norms and brackets. The Indigene woman is independent and free thinking.

Designer Jaya & Ruchi mention, “We are happy to showcase our collection at the Artisans gallery for the very first time. The silhouettes are simple, unpretentious, with fine embroidered detailing. And the look is never flamboyant, but stylish, classic and wearable.
