Indian women win hockey title

India defeated China 5-4 via shootout and bagged the women’s Asia Cup hockey title. This win takes India to next years World Cup as Continental Champion. Skipper Rani Rampal scored the winning goal. The last time Indian women became champions of Asia was 13 years ago.

Self belief and ability to score at any point helped the Indian women to win the title. India is currently ranked 4th in Asia and 12th in the world. It was India’s goalkeeper Savita Punia who came to the rescue as always and saved goals. She was adjudged Goalkeeper of the Tournament. The Indian girls are in celebration mode,some of them too young to remember the previous victory.
