Villet Oviya, a medical aspirant who took the NEET exam on Sunday, has developed a lightweight satellite to measure the effects of air pollution and global warming. The satellite named Anitha-SAT, was launched from Aztra Labs in Mexico City yesterday.

This conical shape satellite weighs just 500 grams and is named after Anitha, the late Ariyalur student who could not pursue her career in medicine because she could not clear the entrance exam. The satellite was fitted with a global positioning system and a camera and was pushed into the atmosphere in a helium balloon. After the balloon exploded, it began its descent towards the sea to measure temperature, air quality and concentration of gases in the atmosphere.
