‘SuperChef Chennai Feastathon – A food carnival held on 20th January at Amir Mahal

On 20th January 2019, Chennai witnessed its biggest signature food carnival – The ‘SuperChef Chennai Feastathon’.  Set amidst the historic Amir Mahal a landmark in the heart of the city, the carnival had its audience captivated with its unique encompassment of meticulously curated and innovative international and local delicacies, music and entertainment. The event showcased an array of hand-picked, mouth-watering global cuisines and local favorites crafted by some of the most talented chefs from across Chennai and India.

It was an unforgettable experience of delectable aromas and heavenly fare, ranging from food trucks and juice carts to out-of-the-box home bakers and the crème-de-la-creme of Chennai’s culinary crop! All of this was served alongside captivating, eclectic music and entertainment including an African band Blessing Chimanga and the Dreams Band all the way from Zimbabwe!  Chennai’s contemporary pop fusion band – Staccato put up an amazing show giving a modern twist to classical music amongst a variety of other performances.  The choicest of gourmet products, including fine coffee, chocolates, artisan cheeses, and delectable baked goods marked a unique feast for the entire family.‘SuperChef Chennai Feastathon’ was hosted by the Madras Cosmopolitan Ladies Circle 38 & Madras Cosmopolitan Round Table 94 and supported by the Arcot Foundation in aid of charity.

All proceeds, i.e. 100% of the funds raised, will be utilized for charitable causes. The main focus in 2019 will be supporting Sanjeevi Primary Health Care Centre, a joint initiative of Ford India and MCRT 94. Sanjeevi has been providing free primary health care to 40 villages in and around Maraimalai Nagar for the past 19 years. The center has treated around 6 lakh patients and is closely involved with the local community, hosting various specialty medical camps and programs in education, environment, and hygiene awareness. All in all, this year’s ‘SuperChef Chennai Feastathon’ was a grand success attracting a massive crowd of all ages from different social strata unifying them for a charitable cause. It was an entire day filled with entertainment and merriment with lots of fun, laughter and of course – tons and tons of food.
