Hailing from Chennai, a creative and cultural heartland of India, Amrit Rao & The MADRASCALS is a six piece Tamil ensemble put together by Singer, Songwriter and Composer, Amrit Rao. They debut their multi-genre act at bFLAT, Indiranagar with strong and intriguing lyrical content, that has a wall of sound which is unique, quirky and distinctly their own; a global sound with a local flavour! The music and lyrics draw inspiration from the city of Chennai, formerly called Madras. Amrit has set out to create a unique live experience, musically, aesthetically and thematically, through ‘MADRASCALS’ with rustic stage design, theatre and movement art. The band has a fantastic line-up of musicians from Chennai, who bring in their influences and musical styles. The set includes songs from the band’s debut EP which is still in the works and Amrit’s debut album called ‘Nirangal’.​
