Gionee India Beach Fashion Week Grand Finale

The Wendell Rodricks Ahead of The Curve collection for the Grand Finale of Gionee India Beach Fashion Week from the pioneer of Resortwear, Minimalism and Eco-Friendly garments in India is a perfect tribute to a method of cutting based on Indian Geometry that the designer has been using since the onset of his career. On Saturday at The Lalit Goa that unique cutting technique came full circle against a backdrop of lights and fireworks on Canacona beach.

‘Ahead of the Curve is a collection that used the curve, arc and circle to internationally new heights. These are garments that celebrate the curved line on seams, hems, silhouette, style lines with minuscule details that give the collection a unique newness.

Straight lines and square cuts are eschewed for the Curved line and form. Blouses looping into arches, Curved shaped trousers, Tunics cut on a curve, Kaftans with layered rings, sheer layers of semi-circle overskirts, ripple pleated dresses, seductively cut-the-curve swimwear and coloured sarongs in curved lines came together to create an outstanding finale worthy collection for Gionee India Beach Fashion Week.

Menswear collection comprised a range of garments that included beach wraps in linen, Speedos and Brazilian swim trunks, Shirts in curved lines, Jackets draped, wrapped and open fronted were worn over crinkled circle cut trousers, satin pyjamas, dhoti pants and bermudas.

The eclectic colour mix included Indigo, White and Black unfused with Mint, Magenta, Peach, Sand Beige, Dusty Blue and Sage Green infused into sensual silk satins, crepe de Chine, georgette, linen, Malkha cotton and Cotton Mulmul. Fabrics are twisted into curves for pleated and neo-technologically treated to create pierced effects.

With this collection, Wendell Rodricks literally took his own cutting edge philosophy, colour combinations, fashion innovation, pioneering style, sterling scissors and minimal aesthetic… Ahead of the Curve.

The collection drew applause and praise from Wendell Rodricks Goan faithful fan buyers which included in front row the Portuguese Consul General Rui Baceira, Jenepher Bramble, Monica D’Souza, Sonali Furtado, Mac & Marusha Vaz, Amiya & Ruby Wandrekar, fellow designers, organisers at Goa’s fashionable set at The Lalit, Canacona beach, Goa.
