First woman Chief Justice in Pakistan

Justice Syeda Tahira Safdar will be the first woman Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court in Pakistan which is a conservative Muslim majority nation. The current Chief Justice Muhammad Noor Meskanzai is scheduled to retire on the 31st of August.Justice Tahira will take over after that and continue till October 5th 2019.

She is currently a part of the three judge special court that is hearing the treason case against former President Pervez Musharraf.She has many firsts to her credit viz first woman civil judge, first woman high court judge, and now first woman Chief Justice.She is the daughter of a renowned lawyer Syed Imtiaz Hussain Baqri Hanafi.
