The Indo-Australian Association was started in the year 1984 and recognizes remarkable individuals of either country who have made significant social contributions in one field or the other. Indo Australian Association conferred the honorary Indo-Australian Award for Meritorious Service 2019 to Dr Bhaskar Ramamurthi, Director, Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai at a glittering ceremony for his commendable efforts to inspire and promote Engineering Education, Nationally and Internationally for modern India

Ms. Susan Grace Australian Consul General to South India was the Chief guest, Dr Bhaskar Ramamurthi was the recipient of the meritorious award and rendered the acceptance speech, Dr Susan Marthandan President welcomed the gathering & Mrs Eugenie Pinto Vice President proposed the vote of thanks, Ms Leena Ashok Secretary to the Association anchored the evening. Guests included diplomats from Consulates, Business honchos and members of the Indo- Australian Association

The formal function was followed by a mesmerising music performance by acclaimed musician & play back Singer Ujjayinee, Kishore Sodha on the trumpet & Antony Karuna on the key board. The guests were enthralled by soulful rendering of the musicians that ended with wine, cocktails and dinner
