The Federation of Government Doctors Association boycotted work for the fifth consecutive day. Health Minister C.Vijayabaskar has urged the striking doctors to return to work immediately and warned that if the strike continues, the government would take necessary steps to protect the welfare of the people.
He said that even though the Federation was not recognized by the government, talks were held with their representatives on October 25th and they were assured that their demands were under consideration. Meanwhile the Health Secretary Beela Rajesh, wrote to the Director General of Police to provide police protection to government hospitals to enable medical officers to render services to the public without any sort of hindrance and also for a police picket to be posted at necessary places.
