DMK President M K. Stalin assured the people of Tamilnadu that the party will resist the move of the Centre to impose Hindi on Tamils. According to him, the language stir launched in Tamilnadu has helped to deter the previous Central Governments from imposing Hindi all these years.
He gave an assurance that the interests of Tamils will be protected at any cost. He described the move to impose Hindi as a cultural war against Tamils and said that the party would strive to unite all non – Hindi speaking states to send a strong message to the Centre opposing the unilateral decisions taken by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He wanted June 3rd, the birthday of Karunanidhi to be observed as “Semmozhi Day.”
