The collection was a compilation of 5 unique stories, each spinning a tale that is timelessly classic, steeped in history, a rich legacy of ancient secrets in an enigmatic contemporary  avatar. The 5 collections presented to fashionistas at LFW comprised of “The Pastel Story”,  “The Musical Story”,  “The Animal Story”, “The Bright Story” & “The Gold Story”.

Tulsi Silks’ primary objective has been to reach out to the weaving community and provide them with support and security. Over the years, in the face of both economic and social constraints, Tulsi Silks has been instrumental in constantly improving the confidence of these master craftsmen, urging them to transfer this legacy and inheritance to the generations to come. In the continued pursuit to place South India’s culture and heritage on the global map, Tulsi Silks has chosen, for the first time ever, to present its choicest creations on a platform that celebrates and showcases fashion. The brand considers this opportunity a personal responsibility towards showcasing an extraordinary craft and legacy to the rest of the world.

Santosh Parekh, Designer and Curator – Tulsi Silks brings together three decades of his tryst with the town of Kanchipuram and the heritage tradition that is the Kanjivaram silk saree. Research and documentation of the queen of silks ie. The Kanjivaram has been his passion. In his studio, every design, the border, the pallu, the intricate motifs have been preserved as a pattern book for posterity. He says,“ It’s a collaborative journey where the weaver and the designer inspire each other to use traditional design and colour and motifs to create an heirloom piece. It’s a meeting of minds where the nuances of experimental colours, and contemporary motifs refreshes a tradition. The time has come to give back to the weaver, to give him or her his due importance in the history of the Kanjivaram. Recent initiatives by the Government of India to promote handlooms on a pan Indian scale comes at an opportune moment. At Lakme Fashion Week Winter Festive 2016, Tulsi Silks is presenting the debut of the KanjivaramLehenga that will revolutionize the ethos of the Kanjivaram. It is intricately woven in panels with a shimmer of zari and motifs that are exquisitely charming”
