History was made when a Hindu Dalit woman was elected to the Upper house of Pakistani Parliament. Pakistan Peoples Party candidate Krishna Kumari Kohli felt proud to achieve the feat and thanked the party for nominating her. This victory has gone viral on social media. The newly elected leader said that though many laws have been drafted for the rights of women, none of them were implemented and she wishes to bring about a change.

This 39 year old woman battled hunger and poverty and bonded labour as well. Despite all these hardships she continued her education and managed to receive a Masters degree in Sociology from the University of Sind. She has always been fighting against bonded labour, sexual harassment and worked for the rights of women and all the people of her village.
