The Second schedule of Rajinikanth’s upcoming cop drama ‘Darbar’ is currently underway in Mumbai. According to sources the latest addition to the star, the cast is Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh’s father Yograj Singh. Yogarj Singh will be playing a very important role in the film. He will also be seen in the opening scene along with Rajinikanth, which will be an intense action block.

The director AR Murgadoss had stated that the film will be wrapped up in August and the film will release on Pongal 2020. Recently, Bollywood star Suniel Shetty was roped in to play the main antagonist. Previously, makers roped in Prateik Babbar to play one of the antagonists in the film. It is believed that Prateik will play Suniel’s brother in the film which also stars Nayanthara.

Touted to be a cop drama, Rajinikanth plays an IPS officer in Darbar and one will see him in a cop avatar after a long time, after films like Moondru Mugam and Pandiyan. It is also widely speculated the film will have Rajinikanth playing dual roles. Anirudh Ravichander has roped in to compose music.

While Santosh Sivan will crank the camera, Sreekar Prasad will take care of editing. The film was originally supposed to be bankrolled by Sun Pictures, who backed out after the recent Sarkar controversy. Lyca Productions, the makers of 2.0, took over the reins of the project and are going all out to make this a lavish project. This would be the third outing for Lyca Productions with Rajinikanth after Kaala and 2.0.
