Every year, October is observed as the Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This year, a panel discussion was organised by Apollo Hospitals Chennai on the topic “Early detection of Breast Cancer.” It was held at Stella Maris College and over 100 students participated in the event.
Some survivors shared their stories of recovery. The students pledged  to support the fight against breast cancer and showcased their art work and paintings on the theme of “Importance of Breast Cancer Awareness.” A panel of experts educated the students about the risk factors. Preetha Reddy, the Vice Chairperson of Apollo Hospitals said that it is unfortunate that in every 13 seconds, a woman dies of breast cancer. Therefore it is important to detect risk factors early and take necessary steps to reduce the mortality rate.
