The Congress opposed the Tamil Nadu government’s decision to recommend remission of the sentences of the 7 life convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case. The Congress Communication Chief Randeep Surjewala said that there should not be any compromise with terrorists and terrorism.

He said that what happened in Sriperumbudur was a conspiracy planned by terrorists and they are in prison for their wrong doings. It certainly would not be right to release them. The murder of a former Prime Minister was an act of exceptional depravity on the part of all the accused. The State cannot escape from it’s duty to punish terrorists and condemn terrorism.
