J. Sandhya Rani is a college student pursuing a degree in Business Administration in Christ College at Bengaluru. It is a remarkable achievement for a person of just 21 years to win a Panchayat election. She heard that the President’s post of Kaatinayakkanthotty was reserved for women.
She decided to contest the elections as an independent candidate for the President’s post. She defeated her opponent by a margin of 218 votes. Incidentally, her father Jaya Sarathi was the former President of the Kaatinayakkanthotty Panchayat in Shoolagiri . Looks like she is following in her father’s footsteps.
