The 4th edition of the Coffee Santhe is just days away and promises to be a great way to kick-start the next year with new blends, styles and techniques galore. Happening at the Karnataka Chitra Kala Parishad, amidst the greenery, the festival is an effort to raise fund by the Women’s Coffee Alliance to empower and uplift the women in the field of coffee both in the estates and outside. The Women’s Coffee Alliance in association with its American arm has taken forward the following initiatives:
Nayan Tara: Education of girl children of women coffee plantation workers in the coffee growing regions of Bababudan, Chikmagalur, Coorg, Biligiris and Sakleshpur
Su Prana: Health Camps conducted in the coffee growing regions of India. These camps help in awareness and health enhancement for Indian women coffee plantation workers and their girl children
Kushal Maya: Medical Health Insurance Scheme for families of the girl children under ‘Nayan Tara’ project
Aa Haar: Distribution of eggs as a protein supplement to families of women coffee plantation workers
The Women’s Brewmaster Championship gives a chance to Women Baristas all over India to showcase their skills and brewing talents and win a chance to train under reputed coffee specialists from around the world.
For connoisseurs of the beverage, the Santhe offers all things coffee from some of the best estates in India showcasing blends in the form of beans/roast and ground coffee, quick demonstration for creating blends using different equipment, food paired with speciality coffee, food made with coffee, plants, roasting and brewing equipments, coffee-based art etc. To add to the excitement around the event, there are plenty of non-coffee related activities such as, a workshop on Yoga to help the mind, body and soul, transcending musical performances supporting local artists, that is sure to get people grooving at the only coffee festival in India!
So, mark your calendars and get ready for the ultimate festival that celebrates the liquid gold.
