Girija Vaidyanathan the Chief Secretary of the Tamil Nadu State Government has completed 2 years in office. She became the Chief Secretary under dramatic circumstances on December 22nd ,2016. She is the first bureaucrat in eight years to complete two years in the top post.

If she holds the post till her retirement in June 2019, her name would go down in history as the longest serving woman Chief Secretary in Tamil Nadu. She will over take Lakshmi Pranesh who held the top post from December 2002 to April 2005. Her strategy has been to provide space to secretaries and heads of departments in handling issues.
