Chennai Bags Another World Record For Its Favorite Delight

Renowned chef and educationist, Dr.Vinoth Kumar made the city proud by preparing the largest dosa in the world in Namma Chennai. He led a team of 60 chefs from Saravana Bhavan who made 100-feet-long dosa at the IIT- Madras campus. It may be noted that Vinoth Kumar is already a five-time world record holder. Previously, Hotel Daspalla, Ahmedabad, held the record for longest dosa to be made in the world. The dosa measures 16.68 m (54 ft 8.69 in) and the feat was performed in 2014. The 100-feet-dosa was prepared by using 37.5 kgs of batter.
The ingredients used include 10 kilograms of rice flour, two kilograms chickpeas, green gram 500 grams, who green gram two kilograms, whole black gram 1 kg, rice 10 kgs, salt 500 grams and 9.5 liters of water. The dosa was made on 105 feet pan specially made for the purpose in coordination with the engineering team of Saravana Bhavan. The pan was maintained at the temperature of 180-200 degrees Celsius to ensure the dosa batter doesn’t set immediately. “Tamil Nadu is famous to the belief that serving food to others is a service to humanity. All the hotels have been serving dosa dish since generations and this is the best way to give back to the city. Tamil Nadu should be recognized for what it is best at and I am feeling so proud to have showcased it this way. I am looking forward to more feats like this,” said chef Vinoth. Actor Nakul’s wife Sruthi Nakul, Saravana Bhavan GM, Madan, HR Damodaran, MD, Saravanan were also a part of the event.
