A rare cosmic event will take place on the 31st of January. It combines three unusual lunar events- an extra big super moon, a blue moon and a total lunar eclipse. It will be visible in parts of Western North America, Asia, the Middle East, Russia and Australia. This will be witnessed after a long gap of 36 years. A blue moon refers to the second full moon in a month.

Typically a blue moon occurs every two years and eight months. During the eclipse, the moon will glide into earth’s shadow turning the White disc of light to orange or red. This alignment of the sun, moon and earth will last for one hour and 16 minutes and can be safely watched without any protective eyewear.
