With World Environment Day round the corner, action is being taken to clean up beaches and all river banks across Tamil Nadu. Participating in a “Clean the Beach” programme in Palavakkam, officials said that the Centre had allocated Rs 40 lakhs for cleaning the beaches in Palavakkam, Royapuram, Madurai and Kanniyakumari.
The programme would be inaugurated by Chief Minister Edappadi.K.Palaniswami and Minister for Environment K.C.Karuppannan in Chennai on June 5th.
