The opening night of Attakkalari India Biennial 2017 features a double bill from Korea. Popular Korean dance companies Second Nature Dance Company and Gamblerz & Animation begin the festival with two riveting performances of varying rhythms. Gamblerz & Animation present a high energy performance connecting the concept of light to the traditional notion of harmony in 5 Colors. With R U ready?, Second Nature Dance Company asks fundamental questions about the self through the vocabulary of contemporary dance.

Atta Ka

Centre-Stage is the main attraction of the 10-day dance festival, presenting cutting-edge contemporary dance and digital performances from countries across the world like the Netherlands, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Canada, Korea, Poland, South Africa, Finland, and India. The double bill sets the tone for upcoming performances by bringing together works of choreographers Kim Sung-han and Jung Iljoo, thus bringing together spirit of colours expressed through street dance and an inward investigation of self without being enraptured by societal norms and expectations. The evening will see fast paced formations to music which would get Bengaluru moving. In the same vein, the performances leave never a dull moment while catering to a wide array of audience with perceptibly differing tastes in movement.

Studio encounters is a novel initiative by Attakkalari to disseminate and facilitate the learning of dance techniques from across the globe through the various visiting companies and native masters. The choreographers of the Double Bill from Korea will be taking masterclasses on 04 Feb from 9:30 am to 12:45 pm at Attakkalari Studios. Join us in the celebrations
