Another Petrol bunk robbery

Armed men on motorbikes filled petrol in a petrol bunk at Thiruporur area and refused to pay for it. A woman employee alerted the owner but the gang threatened her at knife-point and escaped with cash of Rs 5000/ which was kept in the employee’s cash bag.

The owner lodged a complaint with the police and a case was registered. Police have taken footage from the CCTV cameras and have launched a search for the gang. This is the third incident of petrol bunk robbery in the past 7 months. Continuous attacks on staff of petrol bunks during the night time in the suburbs has been on the increase and owners of bunks have requested for effective steps to curb such incidents by increasing the number of patrol vehicles at night especially on the Tambaram-Velachery road, Chengalpet- Wallajabad road and Semmenchery- Mammallapuram road.
