Anaka Narayanan unveils her Spring Summer Collection

Designer Anaka Narayanan recently unveiled her Spring Summer collection that explores the patterns and colours in Banjara embroidery. Her fashion label Brass Tacks transforms hand-crafted textiles into modern silhouettes and her lines are known for their excellence in fit, quality and uniqueness.

The fabrics used for this collection are largely bemberg, linen, khadi cotton and modal. The colour palette includes teal, electric orange, what brown, mantis green, olive green, rose quartz, pink blossom, peach, buttercup yellow, pink lemon, shades of grey, and magenta pink.

This entire collection has been an exercise in finding ways to interpret the colours, motifs and techniques used in Banjara embroidery for a contemporary, urban fashion context and to that extent the line comprises of basic classics, fashion pieces and experimental pieces that are all versatile and lend themselves to a variety of occasions.

Says Anaka, “Banjara embroidery is so rich and diverse in motifs, colours and materials. As an inspiration for a collection, there’s so much you can do and I found myself jumping all over the place with ideas. In order to keep the collection refined, I focused on a few motifs and decided to play with the proportions and colour.”
