An exhibition showcasing ‘Runaway Bicycle’ by Preeti Verma and ‘Grass’ by Gitika Goyal at The Amethyst Room

Kiran Rao hosted a preview to view “Rosie is My Best Friend”, a wonderfully whimsical collection by Runaway Bicycle by Preeti Verma, showcasing handloom cottons and khadis, light twill, light wool and chambray with hints of tussar and organic cotton. Silhouettes include oversized shirts, pants, dresses, tunics and more in whites and pastels, upwards of Rs.4,500/-. Also, Grass by Gitika Goyal newly-launched fusion wear range of women’s apparel that are understated, experimental in cuts and technology, fun, drawing a lot from tradition, but contemporary and cutting across cultural boundaries, combining sophisticated Western and Indo-Western styling and traditional Indian fabrics, block printing and hand screen printing, available at Rs.799/- upwards … at The Amethyst Room, New #106, Old #79, Chamiers Road, Chennai. The collection will be available until September 9th, 2015.

Gitika Goyal is a designer from the second batch of NIFT, Delhi. Based in Bangalore, but originating from UP, Gitika been selling in some of the best niche stores in UK, Europe & US since the late nineties. The designs are affordable yet in continuance with the aesthetics and values the Gitika Goyal brand stands for. Grass is launched on the research that fusion wear is the way forward with a newer India looking to identify with something that can express them better – something more than a salwar kameez.
