A comment of the Union Home Minister Amit Shah that Hindi should be a language that unites India came in for a lot of criticism from non Hindi speaking states. The Tamilnadu Congress Committee (TNCC) has decided to greet the Home Minister with black flags when he visits the State.
A resolution was passed at a meeting of the executive committee presided over by it’s President K. S. Alagiri, Congress general secretary, Mukul Wasnik and AICC secretaries Sanjay Duty and Sirivella Prasad . They said that Shah’s remark was against the legal guarantee and protection provided by former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru to languages other than Hindi.
The party has also planned to conduct large – scale protests in all districts of Tamilnadu to condemn the statement of Amit Shah regarding imposition of Hindi.
