More than 300 women will undertake a round the world voyage from  October this year to highlight the devastating impact of plastic pollution in the oceans and will conduct a research on the topic. Millions of tonnes of plastic right from food packaging to fishing gear enters the sea each year and experts have warned that there will be more plastic than fish in our oceans by the year 2050.

The all women voyage plan to dedicate two years to this project and it comprises of scientists, teachers, filmmakers, designers, photographers and even athletes. It is organised by eXXpedition which is a non profit organisation focusing on marine pollution. The planned 38,000 nautical trip will cover the Artic, the Galapagos islands, the South Pacific islands and Central ocean areas where plastic accumulates due to circulating currents.
