India’s favorite designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee created a furore over his comment that its a shame on women who say they do not know how to wear a sari. Many women spoke out against the harsh statement saying that its a personal choice for every woman to wear a sari or not.

The designer went on to say that he did not intend the comment to spark off a debate on feminism and that he only stated that he did not favour women who said that they cannot drape a sari with a false sense of pride as it was dismissive of our heritage. However his fellow designers say that Sabyasachi has nothing to worry about and that the sari is here to stay either as evening wear at dinner parties or as beachwear.
