A photography paradise at Phoenix MarketCity

Phoenix MarketCity, Chennai’s one stop hub for arts and live entertainment, under its Art C initiative presented ‘Double Exposure’, a 5 day photography exhibition from 2nd March to 6th March, as a part of Chennai Photo Biennale. The exhibit featured ‘The Journey’ by Walter Astrada and ‘Archive’ by Pablo Bartholomew’s a photography of celebrities commemorating the 100 years of Indian Cinema.

The week-long exhibition witnessed around 1,50,000 visitors, comprising of many photography enthusiasts from the city. The exhibition was inaugurated on 2nd March in the presence of Walter Astrada and Padma Shri Pablo Bartholomew, amidst veteran photographers in the city. During the inauguration, Pablo showcased street photography works by renowned New York photographers, through a digital presentation. His talk on the lighting and editing techniques of photographs provided an expertise insight into the world of photography for the assembled gathering.

Earlier at Phoenix MarketCity, Walter Astrada, conducted a photography workshop on storytelling, editing and portfolio review at the mall. He got them engaged in discussions about the most exciting and appropriate ways to convey a story and shared tips on the right techniques of editing, reporting and distributing a project. The one day workshop provided the participants an opportunity to view the cores of his long term project on violence against women such as “Femicide in Guatemala”, “Sexual violence in the eastern Cargo”, “Undesired  missing women in India” and “Shattered myths in Norway”

The photography exhibit featuring over 90 photographs of celebrities taken by Pablo Bartholomew and the photographs captured by Walter Astrada during his travel to 22 countries on his Royal Enfield drew in a large visual appeal and transformed Phoenix MarketCity into a beautiful art hub. The photography exhibit ended on a high note with the crowd trying to catch the glimpse of the beautiful masterpieces.
