The once sleepy retirement paradise called Bangalore is today a thriving cosmopolitan megalopolis. The IT city might lack the sex and violence of Bombay, or the British hangover of Calcutta, or the elite arrogance of Delhi; but it still has the potential to churn out a good enough narrative that explores the life of Bangaloreans and what the city once was over four decades ago. Bangalore’s newest author, Rheea Mukherjee, who just recently launched her first book, Transit for Beginners, is working on a novel that traverses through the Bangalore in the 70s, before the IT and real estate boom changed the socio-economic and cultural dynamics of the city.
