Subramaniam Academy of Performing Arts (SaPa) is hosting an international exchange program with Norwegian students and faculty. The first-of-its-kind global institute dedicated to integrating music with academics is hosting a week-long programme for students and teachers from The Norwegian Academy of Music, one of Europe’s top cultural institutes.

SaPa Exchange Program - 1

In total, about 15 students and professors will be visiting SaPa between January 22 and 27. While the professors will conduct teacher training workshops with SaPa’s teachers across partner schools in the city, students from both institutes will collaborate and learn Indian music together, ending their week-long visit with a concert that’s open to all.

Commenting on the visit, Bindu Subramaniam, Dean, SaPa, said, “It’s an immense pleasure for us to host these highly accomplished musicians. My vision for SaPa is to allow a constant exchange of cultural ideas through music, and this partnership is a wonderful opportunity for the students to work together and ultimately present the results of their cross-cultural collaboration.”

“The professors from Kulturtanken will also impart teacher training to SaPa’s professors, furthering our long-term idea of integrating music into mainstream education and transcending all cultural barriers. I look forward to a week of immense learning and great music,” added Ambi Subramaniam, Assistant Dean, SaPa.
