Grab an authentic Italian meal made with freshest ingredients here in Bangalore. Alto Vino, the splendidly chic and comfortable trattoria at the Bengaluru Marriott Hotel Whitefield serves a range of Italian delicacies made with ‘lots of love’ by Chef Marou.
“Ciabatta – which is freshly baked bread stuffed with garlic, olives, cheese and sun-dried tomatoes is a great way to begin a meal. My mother bakes fresh bread almost every day back home in Italy,” says the Chef, who advises his guests to dip a piece of ciabatta into a small cup of extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar and relish the delight. “A very healthy delight!”
Chef Marou, who has worked across the globe, before getting engaged with the Marriott in Bangalore, says that food is big in Italy. “For occasions like Christmas, we start at say 12 noon and finish the meal by 5 in the evening.”
Next on the table is arancini, stuffed rice balls that are coated in crumbs and deep-fried. Bite-sized arancini make for a crunchy appetizer.
This is followed by a plate of parmigiana strudel, which is crunchy on the outside and velvety soft inside. The rich flavours of veggies and the tangy sauce superbly complement the flaky texture of the strudel.
The calzoncelli – which is ravioli paired with pumpkin puree and the polenta are a great way to take ahead a meal.
“Food is important. But it is tastier when it has a lot of sentiment attached. For me, my mother’s food is the best,” says the Chef.
He finally serves the much-awaited dessert – deconstructed Tiramisu with home-made vanilla ice-cream. Indeed, a sweet way to end a meal. Dolce Vita!!
