Here are a few things you can use to soften or moisturize your hands before applying manicure.

Nourishing Oils

Many oils, including rose and lavender, contain ingredients that can soften your skin. These skin-friendly ingredients make soaking of hands beneficial to the nails and nail beds. To come up with the best solution, you need to add ¼ cup of heated bath oil to ¼ cup of warm water. Nut oils are light, nourishing, and easy to add to a soak. Coconut oil, walnut oil, macadamia nut oil, hazelnut oil, and almond oil are nutrient-packed. The oils also provide a great soak experience. The oils also add a pleasant aroma to the soak. You only need to add a few drops of your preferred oil to water, insert your fingers to the mixture and wait for your nails to soften.

Moisturizing Lotion

This is probably the commonly used solution to soften nails and nail beds. Stir about ½ teaspoon of your favorite hand and body lotion in a small bowl. Then add warm water to your lotion to make a solution. Hot or cold water is not appropriate because it can shock the skin. You can toss a few flower petals to enhance the experience. Soak your fingers for a few minutes. The mixture will soften the hands, allowing you to apply the manicure.

Soap

You can also use soap to soften your hands. Fill a shallow bowl with warm water and add a few drops of water. Soak your hands for a few minutes and then remove them from the solution. The water and soap will not only soften cuticles but will also loosen dead skin, dirt and dust left over after filing and buffing. Clean your nails and the skin around them gently using a nail brush. You can scrap under the nails to remove any dirt left there after cleaning. For excellent results, use dishwasher soap to soak the nails.

Zesty Lemon

Lemon is a very healthy fruit. You can use this fruit to soften nail cuticles, make nails whiter, and stronger. Lemon juice can be used as a soak or as a foundation or a more nuanced soak. To make a solution, mix the juice with one cup of warm water. You can also add one teaspoon of honey to make the soak more effective and boost hydration. Lemon soak may not fit you if you have cuts on your fingers or damaged nails. Adding honey to the soak will help in reducing these effects and will also promote healing.

White Vinegar

Distilled white vinegar is another option you can use to soften your nails. Vinegar relieves dry skin and disinfect while still softening cuticles. White vinegar is mildly acidic. Thus, you only need to soak your fingers in the solution for5 minutes as opposed to 10 minutes in other soaks. White vinegar also helps to keep your nail polish for long.

Milk Honey Soak

This is a good soak for people with weak and brittle nails. To make this soak, you need 2 egg yolks and one tablespoon Olive Oil. Mix these ingredients in a small bowl. Soak your nails in the soak for about 10 minutes. Rinse well. This soak should be used two times in a week to make the nails stronger.
