The 61st Britannia Filmfare Awards 2015: Return to grandeur

Indian cinema continues to grow by leaps and bounds. 2015 was a year that reiterated the fact that Indian filmmakers and their audiences are enjoying a purple patch. Commercial successes set new records while critically acclaimed films showed you could take reviews to the bank. Most importantly, viewers showed that above the generalisation of art and commerce, quality of cinema was the absolute mantra to success.

To celebrate this excellence in cinema, Filmfare and Britannia have partnered again to present the 61st Britannia Filmfare Awards 2015. To announce this momentous occasion, Hindi cinema’s most popular couple Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone came together on the Filmfare stage. The Bajirao Mastani team set the right mood with grandeur and wit, traits that have made the Filmfare Awards the number one entertainment show in India.

The star studded announcement was made at The Leela Palace in New Delhi on December 12, 2015. Apart from Ranveer and Deepika, Jitesh Pillaai, Editor Filmfare magazine  and Mr. Sunay Bhasin, Category Manager, Britannia Industries Limited were also present at the event. Together they lit the lamp marking the start of another stellar celebration of Hindi cinema’s best.

Commenting on the 61st Britannia Filmfare Awards 2015, Mr Jitesh Pillaai said, “It’s been a great year for the movies. We had off beat winners like Piku and Badlapur on one hand, where commercial stars invested in storylines, then the success of non-star vehicles like Masaan and Talvar, too was heartening. In the midst of that we had the baap of all blockbusters in Bajrangi Bhaijaan – which too tugged at our emotions – so content definitely was king this year and we’re in for some exciting time definitely at the award and as always Filmfare will celebrate excellence at the movies. What a wonderful time for cinema“

Bringing in a whole lot of enthusiasm and Britannia’s characteristic leadership insights Mr. Sunay Bhasin said, “Britannia is happy to continue its association with the Filmfare Awards 2015 as a Title Sponsor for the second year in a row. The Britannia Filmfare Awards 2015 brings together the two things that every Indian loves- Food and Entertainment. Britannia has rolled out a large scale promotional campaign called “Britannia Khao, Filmfare  Jao” to enable our consumers to have a first time ever experience of being at the Filmfare Awards Function. This promotion received an overwhelming response last year, and we are confident of an even larger consumer engagement this year. “
