Celebrating 60 Years Of Ulaganayagan In Indian Cinema

To celebrate Kamal Haasan’s completion of 60 years in cinema, the star’s production house Raajkamal Films International is planning a 3-day program. Born on November 7, 1954, Kamal was about five years old when he starred in AVM Productions’ Kalathur Kannamma, marking his entry into films. Kamal was immediately drawn into the spotlight with his performance in the film winning him a Rashtrapati Award.

According to the reports, the 3-day event will begin on November 7, coinciding with Kamal’s 65th birthday and his father D Srinivasan’s death anniversary. A statue of Srinivasan, who was a lawyer and a freedom fighter, will be unveiled by Kamal in his hometown and he will unveil a statue of his mentor and veteran filmmaker K Balachander at Raajkamal Films’ new office premises in Alwarpet, Chennai.

Later there are plans to screen the film Hey Ram as a commemoration of 150 years of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary as the film was centered around the partition of India and Gandhi’s assassination. The screening will be followed by an interaction session with Kamal Hassan.

Reportedly, the celebrations on the third day, titled ‘Ungal Naan’ will see a grand musical tribute by maestro Ilaiyaraaja. This event will celebrate the singer in Kamal Haasan who has sung several enticing numbers. Many legendary singers are expected to join the event.
