During the Aadi festival on Sunday, chain snatchers snatched gold chains from two women at the Periyapalayathu Amman Temple in Pallavaram. The chain snatchers intermingled with the devotees and snatched chains from two devotees. Parameshwari a resident of Pallavaram lost her 21 sovereign gold chain.
Another woman from Pallavaram by name Seeni Thangam lost her 6 sovereign gold chain.Both women lodged complaints and the Police are investigating and have launched a hunt to nab the snatchers. In another incident in Ottiyambakkam in Pallikaranai, two women named Muniammal and Karpagam were relieved of their 3 and 6 sovereign gold chains respectively during the Aadi festival at Muthumari Amman Kovil in Pallikaranai. Cases have been registered with the Pallikaranai police station.
