24 hour helpline for women launched

Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami launched a 24 hour government helpline for women facing domestic violence and sexual harassment. The service cost the exchequer Rs 62.70 lakhs. The toll free number 181 can be contacted if women need assistance right from police assistance, legal or medical services or even an ambulance.

This service will be available round the clock on all days of the week. Women can also seek information regarding welfare schemes issued for their benefit. The gold for mangalsutra scheme provides an allowance of 8 grams of gold and cash allowance for women belonging to the economically backward families for their marriage.
